My third Lidingoloppet, in 3.08.50

[fa:p:a=sport-2008,id=2896615126,j=l,s=t,l=p]Fastest ever! It just flowed. As I present I bought me an iPhone.

I'm in

Yesterday I signed up for the Lidingöloppet and today I went for my first 15 km run of the season (smooth). I was a bit afraid I was not trained enough to make it but tonight I checked the training schedule I followed two years a go and it does not look impossible. If I follow the same schedule there should be no problems and since I have now much more experience that I had at that time it should just go fine. It feels good. I'm happy I spent time saving all my training sessions on funbeat . I just hope I'll find the same motivation I had two years ago...

My 3rd Midnattsloppet

Last Saturday I run my third Midnattsloppet in 50m52s (10 km). It was the fastest I have ever run I guess and since last week I did not feel very well I'm very satisfied. I had some problems after 7 km where my stomach was giving me some problems but after resting for about a minute I could start run again. If I use the results of the previous years I can see that I've been improving my running quite a lot: 2008 50.52 2007 53.05 2006 57:02 I think I can now start practising for the Lidingöloppet, which is 30 km and much harder. But at least I feel well

I'm afraid

Only few days to the midnattsloppet and I'm afraid of  starting to run again. Last week my knee was hurting a lot after a too fast sprint, it feels allright know but still I don't dare to put my running shoes on. What to do? I'm sure it will be allright to run the 10km of saturday's race, but will I be able to practise more for the Lidingöloppet this year? Should I just rest until saturday or should I try to run a bit in the following days to see how it feels?

Varicella

Image
Last week I got 30, and I also got chicken pox. My mother was sure I had already got it when I was very young. She was definitely wrong. I actually thought about publishing a picture of me while infected but then I thought that my reputation could be seriously hurt by such a thing. Now I have definitely something in common with my little god daughter Stella, since it was her that gave me the infection on her 1st birthday party. I imagine myself in a few years telling her stories about my youth and about how we are linked together by stuff in our blood :-D I first saw some bubbles on my body last Sunday (day 1) and it was not hard to check on the internet that those bubbles really looked like chicken pox. But my mother had told med... I was immune! I slept very little that night and in the morning a doctor confirmed that I had been infected (it is called vattkoppor in Swedish) The first two days were not bad, no itchy at all and not so many bubbles, mainly in the neck and in the head....

Innebandy at Frescati Hallen (Stockholm)

Time is up! The innebandy season for Bandydos is beginning next week. If you are in Sweden and want to play innebandy (aka floorbal) please visit our site on playing innebandy in Stockholm

1000 km

Today I reached 1000 km of bike training since 1st march! This was the goal I had in mind before the Vätternrunda, the 300 km race I will run in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately today the weather was the worst weather I have ever biked in. It was not raining but the air was so humid that it felt like.

Vasaloppet here I come

Last week I finally had the opportunity to practise some cross country skiing. The snow has finally come to Stockholm and, altough not a lot, it was enough to let me go on a couple of trips. Check my training schedule on FunBeat In about a month I will run for "öppet spår", one of the cross country events part of the vasaloppet 's week.

Löparknä

During Lidingöloppet I got the "Iliotibial band friction syndrome" (also kalled löparknä in Swedish). It hurts like hell at the side of the left knee and after I while and I have to stop doing any kind of activitiy and just sit down. It sucks. I thought I was in control of my body but the effort made for the race has given me some consequences. I got a time at the physiotherapist, he should help me to recover in a few weeks.

Elettrocardiogramma

Today I took an electrocardiogram (EGC or EKG as it is spellt in Swedish) just to be sure that I'm ok before I start training for the Vasaloppet seriously. I had token a couple of them when I was little and member of a football club in Rotonda. My heart runs fine so I don't have to worry and I don't have excuses :-D The doctor told me to save the diagram for a future reference, If I ever should have problems with my heart it would be usefull to compare a new diagram with the one I took today.

Lidingöloppet

I did it, I run my first Lidingöloppet. It was very exciting and I was almost crying at the end. Lidingöloppet is a 30 Km run in the woods close to Stockholm. It is famous for being very hard because of the many hills that you have to climb to reach the goal. 5823 The first 20 KM were OK, the incredible adrenaline kick that you get pushes you around with no problem. After the stop in "Grönska", after about 2 hours of race, my right knee started to hurt badly. I was almost thinking to stop. I walked for some minutes and I could start running again, altough it was not the same. Still, I could complete the race with a final time of 3h28'21", time which I' m very proud of!

The running season has started

[fa:p:a=midnattsloppet-2006,id=2235835650,j=l,s=s,l=i] And I mean not for this year. I mean for this life. I always thought that running was a quite boring sport but after the bike accident I had before the summer I had not much to do than run. Initially I started thinking about the 10 km of the Midnattsloppet . I heard about it when I first came to Stockholm, a friend of mine (Alberto Costa) planned to run it. For me looked like something impossible, as I was occupying my time with one cigarette after one ather. When I was in Rotonda this summer I felt that I needed to do something to give a meaning to this summer. And I started running. First 3 or 4 km, then more. First having a lot of pauses then less and less. When I told my girlfriend I was going for the Middnattsloppet and she was like "yeah, right, good luck...", not really believing to my summer project. But the more the time was running the more I was running. Back to Stockholm I went for my first 10 km. I run around...

I bought a new bike!

[fa:p:a=edsviken-by-bike,id=2235077909,j=l,s=s,l=i] It is a Trek 7.5 fx. I'm planning to run the Grabvättern on July 11th on it. It is a 90 km long run in Sweden.
